Grant Information
The Chelsea Area Garden Club (CAGC) may award a limited number of grants of up to $500.00 to local nonprofit organizations for sustainable horticulture related projects. Grants support projects that promote the love of gardening, community beautification, environmentally responsible horticultural practices, and conservation through education and by example. All recipients are expected to present a report on their project at the CAGC October meeting in Chelsea.

Chelsea Area Historical Society – To help fund garden renovations for plantings & benches.
Chelsea Children’s Cooperative Preschool -Purchased planting supplies to support education about farming
Chelsea Community Fair Grounds – Drip Irrigation for Flower Beds
Chelsea Community Garden – Materials to repair the original fence and purchase two garden carts.
Chelsea Community Hospital – Garden of Serenity Wall Trellis
Chelsea Community Kitchen – Cooking Classes for Seniors
Chelsea District Library – The Fairy Garden at the library
Chelsea Farmers Market – To help fund children’s booth activities
Chelsea Senior Center – Support for the Intergenerational Garden.

Faith in Action Chelsea – To help fund a renovation project at FIA location, garden beds for Sharon Ann Apartments.

St Barnabas Episcopal Church – Water Collection System for Vegetable Garden
St Joseph Giving Garden Dexter – Help fund Irrigation for Vegetable Garden which provides produce to FIA
St Louis Center – Plants and supplies for perennial & vegetable garden
Waterloo Area Historical Society – Drip irrigation and pavers for pergola rose garden project.
In addition to our local grants, we have provided numerous scholarships over the years to Chelsea High School, the MSU Organic Farmer Training Program and the Washtenaw County Master Gardener Programs. Scholarships recipients are determined by the governing organizations.
